Tippecanoe County Jail Roster
The official county-linked current inmate listing is the JailTracker roster for Tippecanoe County. The Sheriff's Corrections page links to the roster for current jail inmates, while the sheriff directory and Corrections material identify the jail at 2640 Duncan Road in Lafayette. Text-only research could inspect the JailTracker app shell and client model, but live inmate rows were not captured. Treat the roster fields as public-client fields that may appear by profile, not as a promise that every field is visible for every inmate.
The roster is local custody only. If a person has been sentenced to the Indiana Department of Correction, use the IDOC offender locator. If a person is in federal custody, use the Bureau of Prisons inmate locator. For notice of release, transfer, or case status, use Indiana SAVIN or VINELink. For the arrest-to-charge path after booking, the related Tippecanoe County arrest records and charges page explains how jail charges and filed court charges differ.
The Tippecanoe sheriff About Us page identifies Corrections Division responsibilities and states that the jail has capacity for 603 inmates.
That capacity detail helps distinguish the Duncan Road county jail from state prison, federal prison, and courthouse records in downtown Lafayette.
Use the Tippecanoe Inmate Roster
The roster is reached through the county Corrections page link for the current inmate listing. Search by name first unless a booking, arrest, or offender value is already known. Name matches should be checked against booking date, arresting agency, charges, court fields, and release status because common names can produce the wrong person.
- Open the official county-linked Tippecanoe County JailTracker roster.
- Enter a last name, first name, or offender-name search value if available.
- Complete any captcha or search option required by the roster app.
- Open the inmate profile and compare booking, arrest, charge, bond, court, hold, and release fields.
- Call the jail when live custody status, release timing, or account issues cannot be confirmed through the roster.
Note: Jail records can change quickly after court, bond, transfer, release, or classification action.
Tippecanoe Inmate Search Fields
The JailTracker client model exposes several search fields and options. Some are visible inputs, while others are route values or application fields used by the roster. The research did not confirm that all fields display on the public screen at all times, so each field should be treated as a roster capability rather than a guaranteed page label.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Last Name | Text | Search-dependent | The client model exposes lastNameSearchText. |
| First Name | Text | Search-dependent | The client model exposes firstNameSearchText. |
| Offender Name Search | Text | No | Can support a broader person-name search. |
| Agency Name | Route / hidden | Yes | The roster URL uses Tippecanoe_County_IN. |
| Captcha | Captcha | Conditional | The app model includes captcha required, matched, image, and code fields. |
| Released Since | Dropdown / value | No | The model includes ReleasedSinceValue for release filtering. |
| Search Type | Option | No | The model includes SearchType and ShowSearchTypeOptions. |
Tippecanoe Inmate Profile Details
An inmate profile can connect jail custody with court case information, but it is not the full court file. Charges, bond, warrant numbers, court dates, and holds help explain why a person is in custody. The court case still controls filed charges, hearings, dispositions, and sentences.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Mugshot / image | Image fields and image dimensions exist in the roster client model. |
| Booking or arrest number | Booking number and arrest number display options exist in the public client model. |
| Booking and release dates | Original booking date/time and final release date/time fields may show custody timing. |
| Arresting agency | The agency tied to the arrest or booking event when the field is exposed. |
| Charges | Charge description, arrest code, offense date, case number, counts, charge status, and modifier fields can exist. |
| Bond | Bond amount, bond type, fine amount, and related custody details where public. |
| Court | Court name, court type, court date, and court time when the roster has that data. |
| Holds | Reason for hold, sentence, hold type, hold date, and hold-expiration fields where available. |
Tippecanoe County Jail Contacts
Tippecanoe County operates the jail and Sheriff's Office separately from the courthouse. The jail and sheriff are at Duncan Road, while the Circuit and Superior Courts and the Clerk are downtown at 301 Main Street. That split matters when a person needs custody information rather than copies of court filings.

Bookings, Charges, and Bonds
Booking data is a custody record. It may show the arrest number, booking number, arresting agency, original booking date, charge fields, bond amount, bond type, court date, warrant number, and hold information. It does not replace the court docket. A charge listed in jail data may later be amended, dismissed, reduced, or filed differently by the prosecutor and court.
For active court matters, use MyCase to review the case number, court, charges, events, hearings, bond entries, and public documents. Major criminal cases route through Circuit Court, Superior Court 1, or Superior Court 2. Many lower-level criminal matters route through Superior Court 4, 5, or 7, while traffic and motor-vehicle cases often involve Superior Court 6 or Superior Court 7.
Tippecanoe Inmate Visitation
Tippecanoe County Jail visits must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance, and inmates are responsible for scheduling visits. No more than eight onsite or online visits are allowed in a Sunday-through-Saturday week. Visitors should report 10 minutes before a scheduled onsite visit and log in at an open kiosk. Food and drink are not allowed in the lobby.
The Tippecanoe inmate visitation policy explains visit limits, onsite video windows, online visit windows, child-visitor rules, lockdown or reclassification effects, and registration through lobby kiosks or InmateSales.
The policy is practical because it explains both when visits occur and why a visit may be cancelled or need to be rescheduled.
| Visit Type | Days | Times | Length / Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Onsite video | Monday-Friday | 8:30 AM-11:00 AM | Up to 20 minutes |
| Onsite video | Wednesday-Thursday | 7:00 PM-9:00 PM | Up to 20 minutes |
| Onsite video | Sunday | 1:00 PM-3:00 PM; 7:00 PM-9:00 PM | Up to 20 minutes |
| Online visits | Saturday-Sunday | 8:00 AM-11:00 AM; 12:30 PM-4:00 PM; 7:00 PM-10:00 PM | Up to 20 minutes; $0.20 per connected minute |
Children may visit only on the first Sunday of the month, one child at a time, under supervision of a registered adult visitor. A visit cannot occur between people with an active protective order.
Mail for Tippecanoe Inmates
Mail rules are unusually specific. Since April 10, 2023, mail sent to other addresses is rejected. Standard non-legal friends and family mail goes to the jail mail processing address in Highland Heights, Kentucky, not to the Duncan Road jail. Legal mail and money orders remain tied to the Lafayette jail address.
The official Tippecanoe inmate mail rules page lists the mail addresses, scanning limits, return-address requirements, and prohibited mail items.
Use the Kentucky mailing address for standard non-legal mail and the Duncan Road address for legal mail or money orders, because mail sent to the wrong address can be rejected.
| Mail Type | Address / Rule |
|---|---|
| Friends and family mail | Inmate name and inmate ID, Tippecanoe County Jail, PO Box 76550, Highland Heights, KY 41076. |
| Legal mail | Tippecanoe County Jail, 2640 Duncan Road, Lafayette, IN 47904. |
| Money orders | Tippecanoe County Jail, Attn: Commissary Officer, 2640 Duncan Road, Lafayette, IN 47904. |
| Size and material | Mail must fit scanner limits, include return address, and avoid prohibited items such as stamps, blank envelopes, cash, stickers, non-white paper, glitter, glue, or paint. |
Tippecanoe Inmate Funds
Inmate deposits can be made in the jail lobby by Stellar Teller using cash, debit, or credit card. The lobby machine charges a $3 transaction fee, and debit or credit deposits add about 10 percent of the deposit amount. Online deposits through JailATM.com also use debit or credit cards and charge 10 percent of the deposit.
The Tippecanoe inmate funds page explains Stellar Teller, JailATM, money-order limits, account privacy, and property-release rules.
Money orders must be $50 or less, made payable to the inmate's name, and fully completed. Higher or incomplete money orders are returned.
Account rule: Jail staff cannot discuss an inmate account with anyone other than the inmate.
Drop Off Inmate Items
Item drop-off is limited. Items may be dropped off in the jail lobby Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, excluding holidays and lobby closures, and they must be signed into the drop-off log. Distribution can take several days, and the county notes that calls asking when an inmate will receive items slow the process.
The official Tippecanoe inmate item drop-off rules page lists approved item categories and the jail lobby process.
Allowed categories include prescription eyeglasses with soft cases, two new pairs of contacts, pre-approved medical items, limited religious jewelry, plain wedding bands from a legal spouse, and appropriate court clothes for jury trial or sentencing.
State and Federal Inmate Records
County jail records do not cover every custody setting. Use the Indiana Department of Correction offender locator for sentenced state-prison inmates. Use Indiana SAVIN or VINELink Indiana for custody and case notifications. Use the federal Bureau of Prisons inmate locator for federal custody.
The Tippecanoe Sheriff's Office IN mobile app advertises crime reporting, tips, interactive features, and public safety news. The app store listings did not confirm an app-only inmate lookup, so the current inmate roster should remain the primary county online search path.
