Tippecanoe Marriage License Office
Marriage licenses are issued by the Tippecanoe County Clerk on the second floor of the courthouse at 301 Main Street in Lafayette. Applicants use the Columbia Street southside entrance and go through bailiff security screening. Both parties must appear in person together. The Clerk issues marriage licenses Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM and on the first Tuesday of each month from 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM, but marriage-license applications stop 30 minutes before closing.

The local page matters because it adds courthouse-entry and Clerk cut-off details that the statewide marriage instructions do not supply.
Applicants may complete the online application before visiting. Tippecanoe says the office process takes about five minutes when the online application is complete. If not, a computer is available in the office and the process takes longer. Payment options listed by Tippecanoe are cash and debit or credit cards with a service fee; personal checks are not accepted.
Apply for a Marriage License
Indiana requires a marriage license before the ceremony. Indiana residents apply in a county where one applicant resides. Out-of-state residents apply in the Indiana county where the marriage will be solemnized. A license is valid for 60 days from issuance, and a couple may marry as early as the same day.

The Clerk cannot issue a license if either applicant is under the influence, the applicants are too closely related subject to Indiana's first-cousin age exception, either applicant has an unreversed unsound-mind adjudication, or a lifetime sex or violent offender has not made the required statutory notice affidavit.
Tippecanoe Marriage Fees
Tippecanoe posts local marriage-license amounts that appear to include Indiana's base fee plus a document fee. The statewide Judicial Branch page lists the base resident and out-of-state amounts, and the local Clerk page lists Tippecanoe's posted amounts. Divorce filing fees were not located in the assigned research, so they should be confirmed with the Clerk before filing.

Marriage certificates and marriage-license copies are Clerk records. Find Tippecanoe Divorce Records
Divorce records are court records, not vital records issued by the Health Department. Public dissolution case information may be searched in MyCase by party, case number, or attorney when the case is not confidential or excluded. Divorce decrees and copies are requested through the Tippecanoe County Clerk's SBS record-request system, with the Marriage Dissolution Decree category available when appropriate.
Superior Court 2 handles dissolution of marriage and family-law matters, including fee-waiver requests in divorce actions. Superior Court 7 handles divorce cases without children. Local rules also allow other dissolution and separation petitions to be filed in Circuit Court, Superior Court 1, or Superior Court 2, with pro se filings assigned by local ratio and fee-waiver dissolution filings going to Superior Court 2.

Certified marriage copies and divorce decrees are requested through the Clerk, not through a general county APRA route. Restricted Family Records
Public access to marriage records is different from public access to all family-court filings. Divorce case summaries may be public, but documents can contain protected addresses, financial account numbers, Social Security numbers, minor-child information, sealed filings, or other Rule 5 material. Public MyCase access may show less detail than parties or attorneys can see with proper access.
Older records, non-downloadable documents, and certified copies should be requested from the Clerk. Do not assume that a missing online result means no marriage, divorce, separation, paternity, custody, or support record exists. Some records are older than the searchable public data, and some are restricted by rule or court order.
